A new chair has been appointed at Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd.

Simon Dwyer, a familiar figure in the town’s internationally acclaimed seafood cluster and the wider business community, is stepping up from his vice chair position to take on the role. It follows last month’s announcement that his predecessor, Andrew Oliver, is to become chief executive.

The shareholders approved the appointment at the latest board meeting of the multi-faceted organisation, responsible for Grimsby Fish Market and its sales business, Port of Grimsby East – which includes mooring and berthing services as well as a property leasing portfolio spanning 25-hectares - Grimsby Shipyard Services and the Offshore Training Centre.

Simon is chief executive of Seafox Management Consultants Ltd, based in Grimsby with an associate partnership in Kristiansand, Norway. It provides day-to-day management services to Grimsby Fishing Vessel Owners Association and the Grimsby Fish Merchants’ Association, the latter incorporating the Made Great in Grimsby brand. He is also chief executive of the UK Seafood Federation, and the UK and Ireland representative for North Atlantic Seafood Forum.

He said: “I'm delighted that our business, Seafox Management Consultants, can further support the Grimsby seafood cluster. Over recent years, Seafox has integrated itself into the local seafood sector and other major areas of the local economy. I look forward to working with the shareholders, directors, colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers in ensuring we operate a safe environment, future-proof growth and nurture new values within our business."

Simon also serves as a director of place marketing organisation Future Humber, is a trustee of The Grimsby Sailors & Fishing Charity and a member of the Livery of The Fishmongers’ Company.

Welcoming his appointment, director Andrew Allard, representing the shareholding of Grimsby Fishing Owners Association, said: “Simon has been an integral part of our recent change management and appointment of the new CEO. Simon has established leadership credentials in the global seafood industry as well as ports, logistics and energy sectors.

“The shareholders firmly believe the new leadership team will work effectively with colleagues across our diverse business to ensure Grimsby has a first-class fish auction market, port operations, offshore wind training services and a property portfolio ripe for expansion.”
