Lincs Inspire Libraries has launched Wellbeing Chapter, a new programme funded by Arts Council England designed to support health and wellbeing through creativity, movement, reading and community connection.

Running from June 2026, the programme offers free and low-cost activities for anyone looking to improve their wellbeing, stay socially connected and make positive lifestyle choices.

Activities take place across Lincs Inspire libraries and include gentle movement and singing sessions, shared reading groups, local history walks, and health and wellbeing support, something for a wide range of interests and abilities.

Wellbeing Chapter is open to everyone, with a particular focus on supporting people experiencing low wellbeing, those living with long-term health conditions, disabilities or age-related mobility challenges.

The initiative brings together Lincs Inspire’s library services and Health Improvement team alongside local health partners, strengthening libraries’ roles as community wellbeing hubs. Through shared learning and new activities, libraries will be able to provide greater support to local communities.

Claire Newton, Libraries Operations Manager and Wellbeing Coordinator, said: “Libraries have always been about more than books; they’re places where people come together, find support and feel part of something. Wellbeing Chapter builds on that. We’re proud to be offering these activities right here in our libraries, providing a warm familiar place, where everyone is welcome, no matter where they’re starting from.

The sessions will be free for the first 12 weeks, giving people the chance to try something new and discover activities that support their wellbeing. As the programme develops, we’ll be encouraging participants to share their feedback so we can shape future activities around the needs and interests of our communities.”
