Investment opportunities and inspiration will be on offer when some of the most innovative creative businesses from Hull and East Yorkshire present a stadium showcase of their capabilities.

More than 30 businesses that have taken part in the Creative Growth Hull & East Yorkshire programme will also celebrate another round of funding for the programme this year when they deliver Creative Pitch @ The MKM Stadium on Wednesday 28 May.

Creative Pitch @ The MKM, which will run from 8.30am until 2.00pm and is free to attend, will give interested businesses and investors the opportunity to meet face to face and with participants from the last 12 months.

Some of those businesses will report back from the recent Big Creative UK Summit in London, which they attended after pitching against the rest of the group to earn the opportunity. The event will also feature leading speakers who have contributed their expertise to the project.

Simon Davison, CEO of Creo Plan, said the summit in London helped his company raise awareness of its work with geospatial technology applications which are in demand from defence projects, health sites and large corporates in various sectors.

He said: “It was very interesting with regard to the collection of individuals who attended and the contacts we gained. We have already heard from some people who want to talk about investments and partnerships, and we are following up with them.

“We’re now looking forward to raising our profile among local and regional investors when we attend Creative Pitch @ The MKM Stadium.”

Dr Kamlesh Prajapati, Director of Technology at Feonic, said the company, which has already impressed household-name retailers with its Whispering Windows audio products, is now attracting interest with its research into use vibrations to monitor wear and tear on machinery, with major implications for preventing breakdown and improving safety.

Andrew Richardson, the programme manager at the HEY Business Growth and Skills Hub, said: “We have invited all of the participants who have completed the programme so far to set out their stalls at the MKM Stadium, demonstrate the creativity and commercial potential behind their work, and help us build on the significant contribution which the sector already makes to the Hull and East Yorkshire economy.

“The event presents an opportunity for other businesses to learn from the experiences of the participants in the Creative Growth programme and for investors to explore opportunities to take some fantastic products and ideas to the next level.”

The showcase will feature programme exhibitors and pitches from advertising, marketing and PR, architecture, crafts, design and fashion, film, TV, video and photography, radio, IT, software, apps and video games, museums, galleries and libraries, music, visual and performing arts, and publishing and translation services.

It will take place from 8.30am until 2.00pm on Wednesday 28 May at the MKM Stadium in Hull. To register visit The Creative Pitch @ MKM Stadium on Eventbrite.

The Creative Growth Hull and East Yorkshire programme is being delivered by the HEY Business Growth and Skills Hub in partnership with Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the University of Hull. It is one of 12 funded across England by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) and has so far worked with more than 45 businesses across the region.

Recruitment is also under way now for the fifth cohort of the programme starting on Tuesday 27 May. The programme is seeking to enrol creative businesses that are looking to grow, that have generated sales in the last two years, while employing at least two full-time equivalent staff (either directly or as freelancers).
