Hull’s Guildhall will welcome delegates from across the north later this month as Hull City Council becomes the host partner of the North Green Skills Conference 2025.

‘Skills North: Shaping Tomorrow’ will be held on Wednesday 24 September, bringing together business leaders, academics, politicians and the media from a range of different sectors.

Speakers and attendees will debate the challenges that the North of England faces and discuss methods to help achieve shared goals.

The North Green Skills Conference 2025 builds on the success of the events in previous years at Manchester and Newcastle, bringing together those who can help to support the skills needed as the nation progresses towards a cleaner economy.

Future Humber is also a lead partner, whilst the council’s Skills Bootcamps initiative is a sponsor, with senior lead for business development and contracting at Hull Training and Adult Education, Adam Wilson, part of a panel discussion entitled ‘Creating Tomorrow’s Workforce’ during the afternoon.

The council’s climate change manager, Martin Budd, will be part of a morning panel discussion entitled ‘The Future of Green Skills in the North’.

Cllr Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: “The council is delighted to be the host partner and sponsor for the North Green Skills Conference 2025.

“As a council, we are acutely aware of the threat of climate change and the need to build resilience, therefore thisis a fantastic opportunity to bring people together to discuss how we are collectively going to tackle it.

“We already have many strategies in place at the council, including our carbon neutral and net zero goals, but it is pleasing that we will also be able to showcase how we can train people for the jobs of tomorrow through our hugely successful Skills Bootcamps programme.

“Hull and the region is playing a leading role in the nation’s approach to addressing climate concerns, so it is fitting to have an event like this in the city.

“We look forward to welcoming delegates to the Guildhall next month.”
