Business roadshows to be held across the East Riding with the Council Leader

Businesses across the East Riding are being invited to meet Councillor Anne Handley, East Riding of Yorkshire Council Leader, as part of a series of business roadshows taking place this autumn. 

Five events will be held across the region, from Bridlington to Goole, and will give businesses the opportunity to hear about the council’s commitment to supporting economic growth. They will also receive local updates and be able to speak directly to Councillor Handley about the issues and opportunities affecting their businesses. 

The events will take place at Bridlington Spa, on Monday 28 September, Kilnwick Percy Golf Club in Pocklington on Monday 5 October, and Goole Market Hall on Tuesday 6 October.

There will also be a roadshow at the Meridien Centre in Withernsea on Monday 12 October and at Cottingham Parks Gold and Leisure Club on Friday 23 October.

The events will showcase the support available through Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services, including one-to-one advice, funding guidance, workshops and events, specialist support, and opportunities to connect with other businesses. 

During 2025–26, Business Support Services supported 1,112 businesses across the East Riding, helped create 65 jobs and 47 new businesses, and supported businesses which went on to secure £52 million in contracts. 

Each roadshow will include a briefing from Cllr Handley, an overview of the support available to businesses, insights from a regional business, an opportunity for businesses to ask questions and share their views, and networking with other local organisations and council representatives. 

Cllr Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Businesses are at the heart of our local economy, and I want to hear directly from them about what is working well, where the challenges are, and what more we can do to support their ambitions. 

“These roadshows are an opportunity for to meet businesses in their own communities, talk about the work we are doing to support economic growth, and listen to their experiences and priorities.”

The roadshows support the council’s commitment in its Business Plan 2026–27 to engage directly with local businesses and involve them in shaping future economic priorities. The plan also identifies business growth, investment, skills, digital connectivity, employment land, town centres, and the rural and coastal economies as important areas for future development.  

The content of each event will reflect the opportunities and issues affecting its local area. This will include regeneration and the visitor economy in Bridlington, market town and rural growth around Pocklington, manufacturing and logistics in Goole, rural and coastal business issues in South Holderness, and local business growth and connectivity in the central East Riding. 

Businesses attending the Bridlington and Withernsea and South Holderness events will also hear about the opportunities arising from coastal regeneration and Pride in Place investment. 

The events are free to attend, with tea, coffee, and light refreshments provided.
